Welcome to Mayflower UCC
Mayflower is an intentionally Christian faith community. Our church centers our worship on the Bible and the traditions of our Christian faith.
We believe that "God is still speaking!" and that God's voice has not gone mute.
We seek to find God's presence today, in a way that makes our faith relevant in our 21st century everyday, real world. This approach to faith makes Mayflower a progressive church with a traditional feel.
We are Open and Affirming of all people. Mayflower lovingly includes all persons and actively embraces differences of sexual orientation, gender, marital status, age, mental and physical ability, race, ethnicity, economic condition, and opinion. We welcome all to share in the life and leadership of our congregation, in its ministry, fellowship, worship, and sacraments, and in all the responsibilities and blessings that come with participation.
Accessible: In the Spring of 2009, Mayflower completed construction on a new tower. The new tower is equipped with an elevator, and two handicap accessible restrooms.
Minister of Mayflower
Rev. Dr. Paul Leon Ramsey
Rev. Ramsey grew up in Denver and is a graduate of South High School. After spending time away from Colorado for college and Divinity School, Paul returned to Denver and met his wife Sarah. Sarah teaches Art History and English at Cherry Creek High School. The Ramseys also include Grace, Lucy, and Park Leon. The Ramseys live in the Baker Historic neighborhood (near downtown Denver). Paul is also the Executive Director of A Little Help, a Denver nonprofit promoting intergenerational connections and helping older adults thrive in their homes (www.alittlehelp.org). He also serves as the chair of the Denver Commission on Aging.
Paul enjoys playing with his girls, watching Park giggle, skiing, and plays soccer (now that his body has retired him from other sports). His favorite living author is Cormac McCarthy, he loves music, and was formerly the frontman for Rev. Leon's Revival (a local bar band). Paul holds a bachelors degree from Abilene Christian University, Master of Divinity from Texas Christian University, Brite Divinity School, and Doctor of Ministry from Iliff School of Theology.
